(87 f250 302 efi 4wd) I completely lost all compression in #8 cylinder my dad says its a hole burnt in the piston if this is so then what would cause such a thing? It had plenty of oil. I set the timing to 11 d btdc with out the brain plug thing in. I dont understand. anyway this would explain why it started pushing oil out the breather tube and every where else for that matter. did I do something wrong when I swapped engines????
check where the PCV valve hose connects to the intake
if it is at the rear of intake then that will most likley be the cause
this will cause the #8 cyl to run lean
Weak / drippy injector, poor fuel atomization, hot spot on the piston crown. Try putting a small balloon on the dipstick tube (dipstick out) and see if it tries to blow up or blow off.
Go to the $ store, and get the water balloons and RUBBER BANDS, NOT rubbers, I did that little trick to my 91 F150 before I got it, just to be on the safe side, only cost me $2.5o.............
Beats the crap out of $25o.oo................................
