Need info on stacks

Hey guys, I was thinking about installing stacks on my truck. I have two main questions. Can you have a bedliner with them? Also does anyone know if stacks are legal in New Jersey? Thanks for any info.

Don't know if they are legal or not, but I don't see a problem with the bedliner as long as your exhaust doesn't touch it. I have a rubber bed mat in mine about an inch away from the "Y" pipe and it dont bother it.

I have the regular plastic factory liner. I figured if it melted I would take it out, but a 1" gap sounds good to me. What brand did you use? I am thinking about making my own set if I can find the y fitting. Why pay 500$ or more. Did you get a complete exhaust kit, or connect to a stock exhaust?

I got the MBRP turbo back kit. It is a really nice stainless steel system. Every thing fit perfect and only took a few minutes to put it on. I got some 5 1/2 inch stacks off of a peterbuilt from a buddy of mine. They were free. I would recommend the MBRP to anyone. It is a good system.

Most kits Ive seen just have the elbow, y-pipe and stacks. You can connect them to your stock exaust with a reducer since most are 4-5 in.

Maple all you need to do is go to a local semitruck supply store, and order the parts you need. My buddy did that and I did the rest of the install. All the adapters, y/t (whatever they may call it) pipe and the clamps were all there all he had to do was order the chrome stacks. Hit me up with any questions you might have

Same here on the money. Why buy when you can build. Zack, did you put a muffler on with the kit? I have a banks 4" cat back kit from my brother's 04 truck. I had to rig it to fit, but it works, since my truck does not have a cat. He likes to spend money. Still need to know if stacks are legal in Jersey before I cut a hole in my bed. I see trucks all the time with stacks, but a buddy of mine said they are illegal and will not pass inspection, plus get me pulled over and get a ticket.

My Y-Pipe touches the plastic bedliner - haven't had any issues with melting, I order my stacks separate from the Y-kit and came in just under $400.

I'm glad the bedliner does not melt. I really didn't want to take it out. Sounds like parting out the stacks are alot cheeper then buying the kits.

If you do the stacks in the bed aren't you afraid of melting anything that may shift or rub up against them????I would hate to see the chrome get damaged
