Gotta remove the trans..but you already knew that?
If it's a 4x4 the transfer case come off too.
If you have a hoist it's apiece o cake.
If you have helpers, at least 2 more, it's a little easier to do on your back, in the driveway.
A floor jack or trans jack would be nice, the trans is pretty heavy.
If you TC is going bad the trans isn't far behind it. Might want ot consider a rebuild.
