Ive got a Lincoln that sat for a while. I drove it a bit and both front brakes started dragging. I gently drove it home and got it on my lift. What I did was flush about 1.5 quarts of brake fluid through the system. When a vehicle sits a long time any moisture that is in the brake system starts to corrode parts. I used one of those hand powered vacuum pumps you get from the parts store. It has a clear tube that connects to the bleeder valve and there was some rusty colored fluid that came off the front calipers (it should be clear). After flushing the system and removing what ever particles of crap that have accumulated in there I havent had any problems. If you try this just make sure you keep enough fluid in the resivoir to keep it from pulling air into the brake lines. If this doesnt work for you then I would rebuild or replace the front calipers. They most likely have rust in the bores and thats preventing the calipers to return.

Some great suggestions there!

I have an easy - bleed that I could fill and use to simultaneously flush some of the existing fluid and replace it without getting air in the system. Never done it that way but as long as the nipple is open the pressure will push the old fluid out and the new fluid will replace it.

does it happen whether you push the brakes, or not? or is it after several stops are made?

very well could be the mc, and pushrod adjustment. that will effect the left side...first/most. eventually, after enough pedal pushes..it will cause the right side to drag also.
but...do as said above. when theyre dragging, open a bleeder screw, if fluid comes out, and the brake releases, its not the caliper
After several stops if and when it happens.

You can try to troubleshoot between the caliper and the brake hose, but I'll say it again: on a 25 year old truck, there is really no good reason not to replace all the rubber brake hoses. Two in front and one in back. Rubber dries out and deteriorates over time, and it is always much better to be safe than sorry with brakes.
I agree and will happily renew whatever needs it. Been looking for someone to make me some braided hoses but to no avail so far. I could prob get them over here but would prob cost as much as to have them shipped and pay import duties etc.

Yes but did you notice his location? No core, shipping, import duty and sales tax.
You aren't wrong! But in some cases its still cheaper to buy from the US than from the "specialists" over here. I have enquired with a supplier on ebay who does remanufactured parts and was happy to ship, but he gave me a choice of piston sizes. Turns out whoever originally imported the truck may have made up my VIN number as it doesn't check out. still trying to find it on the truck!

Thanks for the suggestions so far
