AUTO HUBS TO MANUAL?

I have a '93 F150 4X4 with the "auto" hubs. There is still a shifter in the cab to put in 4X4 or take out. Can I install a set of manual hubs on this vehicle so as to actually engage and disengage the front diff.? I don't know what brand the front diff is either.(?)
I've seen Superwinch hubs in JEG'S for about $60.00. Is this something I could use?
Thanks

Yep, you can install manual hubs on that truck and I recommend that you do. I like warns the best but I'm sure the superwinch are good too. Here is link that shows the install.

You only need the conversion kit if you have the auto hubs with the three screw cap.

AUTO HUBS TO MANUAL?

I just did this same swap on my 1994 Bronco last week and it is so simple it's hard. I went with Warn premiun hubs that I got off a buddy for 50 bucks. They were still new in the box. I did what I usually do and over analyzed the situation. The first side took about 45 minutes and the second side took about 7 minutes. I did not need the conversion kit since my hubs had the 5 screws holding the dust cap on. Good luck with the swap.

Pep Boys is closing out the Dana 44 19-spline Superwinch hubs for $36, so I got a set. I'll post here how the installation went. I have a '94 F-150 with five screws on the automatic hubs, so I did not purchase the conversion kit (per the Warn catalog).

They had both the Warn and Superwinch. The standard Warn look more like the original Ford manual hubs, chromed with a plastic ****. The Superwinch look more like Warn premiums (all metal).

EASY. This was the quickest job I have ever done on any vehicle. Most aftermarket parts I have used have some kind of installation trouble. Not with these Superwinch hubs. I had the five torx screw Ford automatics.

Remove torx screws and outer cover with seal.

Remove small retainer clip on the side and outer snap ring with pliers.

Remove old hub and inspect for signs of bearing trouble. (I did not repack bearings because this was done one year ago when the brakes were done. The grease still looked new.)

Install new hub body and new inner and outer retainer clips. Check for some in and out play. (The original thrust washer was left in place.)

Install new cover, in "free" position, tightening the six capscrews evenly. Superwinch uses a thin o-ring outer seal that could be damaged if the cover not installed carefully.

Thats it. Less than ten minutes per side.

AUTO HUBS TO MANUAL?

Ok question here about the screws on the caps:

All my hubs have a different about, I have 2 on one, 3 on another and 4 and 5 on the others. What is up with that?
