79 ford 400

are both heads on the 400 supossed to have opening for the emission, i have one head that does and one head have none

The 400 was introduxced in 1971 on cars, used thru 1979.

Introduced in F100/350's in 1977 (Bronco's: 1978), used thru 1982.

The cross pipe between the back of the heads for the Thermactor Emission (smog pump) check valve was first used in 1974, so one of your heads is 1974/82, the other is 1971/73.
