have a F250 Powerstroke, standard cab, full size bed, 6 litre, manual transmission. Tires are standard all-terrain. I plan on installing load leveler.
I want to know if I can carry 6,000 in the bed, not on a trailer. Can anyone let me know if I can carry this weight? The majority will be from the rear axle forward.

 

It would not be safe to put 6000 pounds on an F-250. The new 08 F-450 can just barely pass 6000 lbs on its bed. A utility trailer would be the better choice. There are companies where you can rent trailers that can hold that weight.

 

You certainly could carry that but it would seriously overload the truck. Driving with that load on the highway would be unsafe, putting it mildly.

I agree with FordGuy, rent a trailer and spare your truck the abuse.

About 4300 lbs maximum for the single rear wheel F-350

 

6000# in the box on a 04 350 dualie is a hand full, in a f250 it would be asking for big trouble!
