OK to the admins -- I don't view this as a political discussion. If you do, please delete it or whatever.
Anyway, I just read this am that Chevy Chase was on CNN, discussing Tina Fey's impression of Palin. He apparently had urged her to do everything she could to trash Palin, whom he apparently thinks doesn't belong.
Just a second here -- isn't SNL entertainment? Yes, there's often a little message in a lot of the media, but this seems just wrong. Not only was he trying to politicize the show, he's apparently openly proud of it. Doesn't matter to me who he's after -- it just seems wrong.
I'm not offering any opinion on any candidate here -- just discussing the fact that the entertainment industry seems to constantly be trying to present their politics in every possible way.
the SNL foundation was built on political humor. and yes tv land always leans to left. but you are not alone in thinking Chevy Chace is not funny, lots of people from the old show hate his guts.
yeah i felt like i didnt need to hear him rip palin, someone that hes known about for about only 6 weeks, yet chevy, matt damon, have all the answers about political figures that theyve known for as long as i have.
I see your point ford2go, but SNL has been doing that for years. A lot of people find those skits funny, which makes their ratings go up, which is why they do it. Right or wrong, it makes them money, so it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong.
SNL to do a parody is fine. The hollywood flakes making their statements well for the most part I doubt they are qualified, or their reasoning is flawed at best.
Chase is a has-been, for a while now, and was just aching to get in front of a camera.
SNL humor, as stated above, has been political for many years and they pick on both sides, though Reps get hammered a bit more. I thought Tina Fey was funny and took it for what it is, satire.
Ever see Dana Carvey do George Bush? (W's Dad) He was quite funny and even Dad Bush was quoted as saying, "He's more like me than I am!", or words to that effect.
theres a difference between doing a parody, and listening to someones personal opinion of a politician that they did not even know of 2 months ago, because there hard up for democrates to take over.
matt damon should be worried about making another movie with ben afflec than what sarah palin has to offer.
i havent found chevy chase funny since caddy shack.
why wont oprah winfrey have palin on her show???? is it because shes white? because shes a republican? i would have thought that someone like oprah would embrace the first female nominee to be vp.
Political parody is all fine until it becomes veiled political campaigning.
When the so-called comedians use their medium to preferentially make one candidate look better than the other, they leave the realm of 'entertainer' and enter that of ideological huckster in sheep's clothing.
I think Tina Fey got Palin right on. I had to look at my TV twice to realize that it wasn't Palin.
you are not the only one, my girlfriend was in a class where they were talking about her and there were a few people that really did think it was her...
