here latley this clicking has been getting to me. ever since i put my 4" magnaflow stuff on im hearing more "noise" from the motor. a buddy of mine conviced me its only valve chatter that changes with the back pressure created by the new exhuast.. the magnaflow mufler didnt have a inlet stamp on there so could it be on wrong causing to much back pressure? its mainly just sounds like a pinging noise. im gonna pull it up to the shop tomorrow at school and let the instructor hear it and see what he thinks... im thinkin about just pullin the diablo off and runnin stock if programming is gonna mess this motor up.... i'd preciate the help! oh and i listend to a buddys 7.3 and it sounded nothing like mine im assuming because of my intake and exhast is that pretty safe to say? im gonna order a hpx sometime this week and hope it can clear some of it up what do yal think
mines a late 99 so would upgrades like i have minus the ccv ( i put it back stock to see if it affected my blowby out of fill neck) cause it to be MORE noticeable
The HPX line might help smooth out the idle a bit but won't necessarilly quiet up the chatter. The mod that quieted the engine cackle the most was the in-tank & pre pump mod.
well today at class i pulled the valve covers (kinda a biotch) and re tq'd drivers side only and it helped a little but i got to lookin around and my exhaust back press. sens. was cracked so i pulled it off and it was clogged again!! so i went to pull the tube and pop it broke it was rusted in two... well i didnt have the $$ to buy a new one from ford so me and my instructer made one out of "custom" bent brake line 2.67 for 4ft of brake line. so that threw away my "to much exhast backpressure" code but i still have to get that sensor when i order my hpx.
THe passenger side really isnt that much more difficult than the drivers. And the back bolt isnt nearly as tought. Best thing I have found for back of drivers is a 13mm with a wobble and 6" extension on a 3/8 drive ratchet.

That is exactly what I used. The passenger side was easier, I thought. The only tough one is right underneath the AC evaporater box. Easy to get it out, but a pain to get it back in. I actually had to have my wife use her small hands to get it in since I have some big sausage fingers.
