lights and gauge flickering
Hi,I have a 1986 f150 4.9 300..when i start the truck and turn on my lights all the lights are flickering and so is the amp gauge,the gauge flickers with the lights off also..I am also having a rough idle..(could this be connected)I checked all the ground wires,all seem ok.the lights are very bright and battery charges ok..voltage reg?alternator going?its a new battery also..any thoughts?thank you

When you say all the lights - do you mean headlights, parking lights etc flicker as well? Do the headlights flicker in-sync with the dash lights? That could be the headlight switch. However, the rough idle and flickering amp gauge could point to the charging system as well. I'd follow 70T351W's advice and at least have the alternator tested; you've got nothing to lose by at least just checking.

I am gonna have alt.checked,but i would think it will show its charging on the machine.and yes all lights flicker at once(headlights,parking lights,dome light,fog lights,and gauge flickers.I checked the battery ground wires also..thanks
