Dist. took in water

I was going through a pretty deep mudy watery hole, water was up to the bottom of my grill, my engine quit on me. After some cranking it finally kicked over and ran like crap for a few seconds and i managed to get myself out. I let it run for a while and it ran fine after, a friend that was with me said i took in water in my Dist. cap, it there anyway i can seal it up, so less water can get in?

You can seal up the cap with silicone. You will need to drill a hole in it and attach hose barb and a vent tube. Mount the vent tube to the air box, or anywhere higher than water level. I've heard that marine type caps made for boats seal better, they are available for most ford V8s.

By the time you take water in the dist. cap, you probably have taken water into the air intake and everything else such as axles, transmission, transfer case, alternator. etc.
