Quigley 4x4 Conversion

Okay...real quick...

There are like 3 or 4 different places for me to ask this question. I hate cross-posting, so I'll ask it here.

Anybody here have or had a van that was converted to 4x4 by Quigley?

I am looking to get add an E350 Super Duty Extended to my stable & have Quigley convert it. Anything I should know? We can talk via email.

monsta@excursionowners.com

Thanks!

Well kinda....

I now have 6 kids. My wife and I are now Foster parents of sisters (ages 10/11). They lived close to us and we've known them for a while. I (and the state) believe that they will be with us pretty much forever. (Which is okay by me.) They had a horrible home life. Dad is in jail, mom is bi-polar, amungst other things, and is un-fit. :-( I'm happy that we've been given the chance to try and make a difference in their lives.

Anyway...

So my Dodge mini-van (152K!) will soon crap out and I'll need a replacement for that. I cannot get another since the whole family will not fit. So I figured a 12 passenger, 4x4, raised roof, V10 powered E350 van should suffice.

I won't be giving up my X for many, mant years! But it is cool that all the seats are filled!

re: http://www.quigley4x4.com/

They only do "new" vans. I have seen them and the people that drive them really love them and it is almost impossible to find a used one. I know I tried. I have never seen the converted 12 passenger club wagons, just the E-150.

Quigley 4x4 Conversion

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Jul-02 AT 07:21 PM (EST)]Didn't have a Quigley but I had a PathFinder which I believe turned into Quigley. That was a '77 E250. I loved it. Wife hated it as it was her vehicle. Didn't like parking it anywhere. Also had a '78 GMC that was done by a local guy. Also a great traveling vehicle. Easier on gas than the PathFinder. They are very good on and off road. It must be something with the weight distribution. They do handle different than a SUV/pickup. Remember you are sitting almost of top of the steer tires and you tend not to feel the rear end sliding out from under you. If you have small children they will like the idea of having some room to stretch their legs on the long trips. I priced one before we bought our SHO but the other half, the one that would spend most of HER time driving it didn't want another 4x4 VAN. Hmmmm, I wonder why. Good luck making up your mind. They do hold a good resale as they are very rare.

Monsta, I'm glad to hear you're getting a chance to make a difference in these kids' lives. My sister is a social worker who helps place kids in stable homes. Good foster parents can be hard to come by and our very important. You will be rewarded for your good work!

>Why not get a diesel van?

Well, I would but the V10s are easier to come by and about 5 grand cheaper...plus when I orginally went to the Quigley site they said that they will not convert diesel EXTENDED vans.

However, now that my "search" has begun, I have found other owners with Extended Quigley PSD vans...I'm confused. But I have time to work it out.

___________

Thank you to all who gave me their vote of confidence and accolades.
