I noticed that, didn't think that's what you meant.
Damage to left quarter wheel opening caused by left axle.
It crystalized and snapped, wheel/drum, remains of axle tore up bedside.

Yes.
It's not an uncommon occurance on older vehicles to have this happen.
It's far more common on vehicles with tapered axles, as opposed to flange axles.
And....it's seen far more often on the right side, than the left, which means this truck may have a limited slip rear end.
