Long Tube Headers for 351W for F350

Does anyone know where i can get long tube headers for my 1996 F350 Crewcab longbed 4x4 with the 351W engine? I want to run straight pipes that dump behind the cab. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith

Same truck as me.......

I'm this close () to getting all my exhaust stuff finally.

I'm picking up some Flowtech's off of Summit's site, looking at $170 or so for some headers.

I'm going to put the bung in for the co2, and a fitting for the EGR.

I'm getting all the tubing, straight and bends from them too. Weld it up here at the house....

Still trying to decide on a muffler, looking hard @ Bear River (vendor here) for my muffler and cat as both of mine are gone.

Nope. I got to working on my old Jeep, and never did anything with it. Parts just been in the garage on the shleves. Honest to God, this Sunday is to be a teardown day after I haul some Jeep for a friend.

I'll post up some pics when done.

Not yet. I asked around here, and a couple guys got some mid 90's trucks like ours. A bunch of them are running Flowtechs, so that's what I got.

We'll see.

summit and jegs will take back parts(but you eat the shipping), as long as you dont beat them up try to get them in

id look at summit and you can put in all your truck info and see your choices, i would recommend some kind of muffler though instead of straight pipes dumped after the cab, you will lose a-lot of torque

You should give Sanderson Headers a look. If you call them they will tell what they have for your application. I got some shortys from them for my 66 and they are sweet. They were definitely worth the price.

Nope. I am a lazy bish.

Truthfully, I have been using it for side work, and am worried even with my fairly regular spraying of the bolts, I'll snap one in the head and be down for a weekend or two longer than needed.

IF I can wrap up a deck job this Saturday, I may go ahead and pull the manifolds. If I can get that part done, the rest will go smoothly.

I really need a good 3 or 4 day weekend to get after it with no side work lined up.

Hey i totally understand. I own a business distributing pure sugar cane Dr. Pepper to college station, texas where i go to school and my truck is my lifeblood. i use it to haul between 3 and 7 thousand pounds at a time. im only 21 and dont have the money yet for a new truck so anything i can or want to do has to be done between delivering and school which doesnt leave much time and i for sure cant be down for more than a day or 2. take your time, things usually work better that way. also another question i have, have you done any other perfoemance mods to your truck? i feel that the 5.8l is lacking power on the hills i have to travel. i have a K&N intake and a flowmaster exhaust and thats it. Im just curious to see what you have done. Thanks.

Thats a negative ghostrider on other mods.

I've never thought the 351w to be a powerhouse, although I've heard the headers really help it out.

I have 4.10 gears, I also have heard that 3.55's bring the ball suck with this motor.

I replaced my whole ignition system last year as the distributor had a wobble, new coil, plugs, wires, ignition module too.

Runs great. In my "mod box" are the headers, tubing, muffler and cat for the exhaust.

I also have a shift kit and bigger cooler for the tranny.

I will probably tinker with the timing some this weekend, read on this site somewhere about bumping the timing for a free small bump in power.

How is the shift kit and tranny cooler working for you? besides the lack of power the tranny is my next main concern because not only am i pulling lots of weight its also having to turn 35x12.50R16.5 which i understand isnt much different from the 31 from stock but still more mass to turn than stock. who makes the shift kit and cooler? Thanks

I haven't installed them yet, just in my goodie box. Pretty sure I got B&M, I bought them months ago when I bought the headers.

I can double check the box if you want part numbers, I got them off of Summit's website.

I got the biggest cooler I could.

You have 35's..........let show you this. I had 35's on a identical rig as now and it killed my performance since I didn't re-gear.

It killed my power and took me out of my power band some:

Tire Diameter: 35" :1 Transmission Ratio: 0.7:1
Diff Ratio: 3.55:1 TransferCase Ratio: 1:1
RPM: 1550:1 MPH: 65:1

Tire Diameter: 31":1 Transmission Ratio: 0.7:1
Diff Ratio: 3.55:1 TransferCase Ratio: 1:1
RPM: 1750:1 MPH: 65:1

That isn't revving hardly at all IMHO. Maybe if she was a diesel since they like to lug a bit.

About 200rpm's less at 65mph than stock size, and that's with 3.55's, I always liked a little more gear with a smaller displacement motor. If you had 4.10 gears stock it wouldn't hurt so bad.

Cruising on the highway you might get a bit more mpg, but it will hut your grunt on hills, pulling and overall performance.

Be willing to bet that is some of the problem, truth is, you may have the 3.55's, I think the only options were either 3.55's or 4.10's.

When put on my 35 BFG MT's, I'll probably go to a 4.56 gear set to help maintain performance.

as best i know i have 4.10 thats all it showed on the owners manual for the 350. ill double check in the morning. so if i understand you right the 4.10 is whats hurting the power with the 35's over the stock size? or would the 3.55 be worse? you have been very helpful and i really appreciate that. i want to learn as much about these trucks so i can work on them myself. What kind of mileage are you getting out of yours? i average about 14 but ive seen a best of 17 running high octane gas all on the highway.
