Ram air intakes

Would you guys share what type, or how you installed your ram intakes. I have the original intake coming off my Banks, into the factory air box and is not getting enough clean air. Pictures would be great. Thanks.

Click on my user name and go to gallery- have pictures of ram air from behid the grill up to the hood, then a big scoop back to my N/A intake. works great, easy to fab up without cutting any structural items-only plastic.

Check out Dave Sponaugle's gallery, he also has a ram air setup he made. I did mine similar, based off his setup. I used 4" exhaust tube though, flattened to fit at the end, and made some holes in the rad mounting bracket. I kept enough to not weaken it too much. I also put a screen out front to prevent bugs and debris from getting in, but left a gap between the screen and the inlet. Works well for me.

Thanks for the information, how much difference did the intakes make? On my 6.9, the exhaust tube coming off the turbo was not even connected to the factory rectangular air box going towards the front of the grill. I got some flexible dryer tubing and connected so air is flowing in, seemed to help a little, but not as much as I was hoping.

You might think twice about useing dryer vent tubing...it breaks down quite quickly...[been there, done that]
What worked well for me is black drainage pipe...not as flexable but never breaks down!

It made a rather big difference on mine, and I also noticed a several hundred degree EGT temp drop with more and cooler air from in front of the radiator.

But my engine is "not exactly" stock either.

Thanks for the information. Did most of you guys take the intakes all the way to the front of your grill or use the stock air box? I live in Oregon by the way.

I had mine hooked to the stock breather when mine was NA, now with the turbo it feeds the stock ATS air box.

When you are driving in a snow storm, the snow will cause the filter to ice up bad enough to stall the engine.

My piping still uses the stock plastic hose that was attached to the stock filter housing.
When I drive in snow or am plowing snow, I remove the plastic tube and stick it in the tool box.

Hey another Oregonian! I guessed you might be judging by your user name.
