2001 escape engine surge while driving
Hi there gang. I have been a member here for a while now but have spent most of my time on the truck boards. My Girlfriend has a 2001 escape that has an issue with the engine surging up to 3500 rpm's intermittently while driving. It will run fine for a few days, then it will surge right up to 3500 while driving. Even when you take your foot off the trottle, it still keeps pulling. It has a code because the check engine light is on, but I haven't looked into how to read the codes yet. Anyone experienced this problem before? And if yes, where is the likely problem? Thanks for your help.....

I have this exact same problem for months now. I posted a thread back in Nov of 07 called

several people gave me advice but no luck, in any case you should read it since it might apply to you
Back to the present, I still have the problem but I don't have a check engine light. I purchased a OBD II Code reader this week so I will try to see if I get any valuable info. That is what you need to read the code, most mechanics have this or you can go to auto zone I believe and they will check it for you.
If you are able to get the code, could you please post it so I can do some research and see if it relates to my car as well.
