Hi,
I have a 1989 F-150. While going down the Interstate I lost the right side front windshield chrome trim peice. Can someone tell me how this is held on? It looks like there are studs under there to take a retainer peice??? I also need to know the best way to take it off, because now I have to go to a "You Pull It" to get another peice of trim! Can you buy the retainers at NAPA or do I have to order them from LMC??? Thanks!
It is held on by plastic clips attached to those studs and the best way to take it off is to get the tool from a winshield installer it is flat and has a pointed hook on one end they are a pain in the butt they break real easy you should be able to get the clips from a body shop or glass installer.
Hi,
Thanks for the help. I wish there was a tutorial on how to use the tool correctly. I ordered one at my local auto parts store but I know it will have no instructions. Thanks again!
As far as using it it is really easy slide the hooked end under the trim and slide it until you come against a clip and just pull gently on the clip while using your fingers to pull gently on the trim it will pop off fairly easy.
Hi,
Well.. I went to the junk yard for a piece of window trim,an F-150 emblem and some window trim retainer clips. I had figured this up in the LMC catalog and it would of come to $120 w/shipping! I had to go to two junkyards the first one didn't have a doner truck like mine but I hit gold at the second one and got everything for $10!!!
The trim went on easy,as I was told after I figured out how the retainers work! All in all a good day on the old truck and she looks better with all the trim it's suppose to have!
