Mounting Tow Hooks - Update
Greetings all!
After getting myself stuck several times last weekend, my tow hooks were put to the ultimate test. I had to be jerked out by them 3 times, each time it took 3-4 good "snatches".
First off, the grade 5 bolts held perfectly. In fact, one of the times I had to be pulled slightly off to one side, and bent the bottom flange of the frame where the hook was. (I'll get a picture of it.)
The only problems with the hooks are the size and the keeper. Because the hook is smaller than my buddies strap, and the keeper is a total waste of metal, the strap slipped haly way off, and broke half of the loop when he tried to jerk me out.
I am going to remove those hooks and try to find some big ones like the stock ones on the front of some bigger p/ups. If anyone knows where to find some, please let me know.
