Does anyone have a good modern/available-junkyard etc bench seat to recommend for fit/looks etc in an F1. My seat frame is good, but all the wire and coil springs are totally rusted--Its bare of material and was sitting like this for decades. I'd prefer the OEM replacement, and once in a while I see one on ebay etc, but it's usually at a distance and shipping is too costly for such a big item. Iwas just guessing maybe a 1990's era Ranger or import truck of some sort. I'm guessing the small trucks would more likely be a better fit with the narrower F1 cab etc. Has anyone found a seat they could recommend.
Alot of people do use the ranger seats and I believe that the s-10 seats also fit. I found that a Buick regal with a split 60/40 seat fits nice. here is a picture of one that has some great work done to it. You would have to built a bracket for it but that what you have to do with the ranger bench seats anyway.
It really isn't all that much more to have your upholsterer put all new springs in, you aren't likely to find an original seat with springs worth a darn. I had all of them under the driver (that would be me!) replaced, and it only added about $25 to the cost of re-upholstering. All told (4 yrs ago) it cost $350 and is very comfortable. This pic doesn't do it justice.
Didn't we just have this discussion? Seems like so many of these subjects loop back around.
The S-10 seat do fit - nicely. I've had both an S-10 and a Ranger and the S-10 seats are a little bit more functionally well built (seat belts included) and tend to be more sturdy.
But on this one, I'm with Ross!!!!! You could get your stock seat redone and I think you could really enjoy it. They can fix them up now to add center arm rests or cup holders if you like. They can semi bucket them too. The guy who is going to do mine is also going to add lumbar support!
AlbuqF1, are you saying that they can replace all the spring material including that perimeter piece. I dont know what to call it. But there's the individual coil springs and then the"whatever" that circumnavigates et al and holds it all together. The uphosterer can replace that too? I mean I've got a good 3/4 inch tube frame or whatever exact size it is plus the four little mounting fixtures etc, but that's all I have. I didn't realize the uphosterer could fabricate everything and only needed the tube frame to work from.
But I hear you saying that. That's good to know. I'd be happy to use the OEM frame and pay the uphosterer.
I have to agree with Ross, the original bench seat I had in my 52 needed structural work and a local upholstery did wonders with it. I'd say if you have the original seat take it to a good shop and see what they can do with it.

Hmmm... I don't remember there being any coil springs in my seat. I think they were all the serpentine-shaped things that run across the seat surface. But it's been a long time since I looked under there. Are you sure your seat is original? Take a look at the thread about the mounting for these, is yours the same? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...t-problem.html
At any rate, there is nothing they can't re-create or fabricate if they are good. Upholsterers don't work cheap but a good one is worth every penny -- just like painters!
I'm a little new at posting the photos-hopefully this is a photo of the seat in my 49 F1. The truck is a real basket case, and I don't know if its the correct year or not, but it looks like it will fit.
I don't know why the photos arent' appearing, I'm doing something wrong, but I just copied and pasted the photos from my FTE on line gallery--if you want to make the effort you can check out my gallery photos--these are the last two photos on my 58F100 topic. Tom
I thought you had a Bonus Built truck since you asked about an F1 seat; you have an F-100. That appears to be a stock seat. It looks to be salvageable.

Having trouble posting photo's? Welcome to FTE!
It is a little bit of a challenge. It looks like you tried to post it and got there but it was either too big, or you weren't standing on your left leg with your right arm curled up over your head correctly.
You might try resizing the picture down a little then importing it into a gallery (go to "USER CP") Then copying the link that appears after clicking on [sic] "Forum Codes: For Displaying Image in Forum Posts".
One important thing to remember when you copy that: don't copy the
"[img]http://" at the begining or the [img] at the end because it is already part of the header where you go to paste it down. Just cpoy this part: www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?&photoid=197498&.jpg
I'm going to import a photo just to check my terms.
Please try again so we can see the pics - we love show and tell!
I just wanted to ad some info about the Ranger seats. My wife has a 94 Ranger and it has the split 60-40 bench seats.
IM thinking maybe 93 and older is the actual bench seat?
Just something to think about if your calling junk yards and dont actually see the seat.
