05 Front bumper questions
OK, ripping off front brushgaurd/winch and bumper. They were smacked real good (previous owner, county truck). Good enough to twist the driver side frame bracket about 15 degrees off center. Hope it isn't an alignment issue when putting on new bumper.
Well, after ripping off the front brush guard I noticed the recovery rings look like they need an extender from frame to rings. There were extensions for this brush guard, but they will be way too long to put back on for the stock bumper. Either this or I am completely missing something.
Does anyone have any pictures or info on the front bumper assembly, especially the rings and extensions.
Believe it or not I have the Ford factory manuals (Vol 1 and 2) and can't find a single mention about the front bumper in it anywhere.
Any help is appreciated, as I have an e-bay front bumper coming and if I have to source some parts, I would rather do it now than later.

My semi hidden winch mount uses flat stock extension for the rings. I haven't installed a brush guard on the 05+, but the previous years had a simple 90 degree bracket to the frame.
The extension is probably something to do with the brush guard. Most manufactures mount close or on the tow hook mounts, and then provide some way to keep the hooks.

Well, a little head scratching, and checking pictures of trucks for sale on e-bay, I think I have it figured out...
The hooks point down, attach straight to the frame and the bolts come in from the bottom threading into the hooks (at least my hooks are threaded internally)
The only thing I don't like about this set up is that there is no washer/nut on the top side to help with any tension. Oh well, I just spent a few hours wrestling a bent fender in to a somewhat reasonable shape and took a few dings out as best I could so I am done for the night.
If anyone sees that I screwed this up, please feel free to let me know.
