I just picked up a new ignition control module from the Ford dealer and the part number is 5U2J-12A297-DA but the one that I pulled off the truck is F1SF-12A297-C1A. Is the new one a replacement part number or was I given the wrong ICM?
I bought a 5U2J-12A297-8A from a local parts store and got code 212 and a very hot ICM. Touching it after driving was VERY hot. Gray color, original was black. I think it is for the Push Start ignition system.
I bought a F1SF-12A297-C1A on eBay off a '93 Taurus and it works great. Black color. Mine is a CCD, computer controlled dwell, ignition system.
I suspect the secret is the color and Ford does not (nor others) list it by color.
Those aren't actual part #'s. If you look at your invoice it will have a different part # than the other two. Most likely is a replacement but if you need me to I can check on Monday.
I was just shopping on line for one at Summit Racing. They list several for my 95 Bronco with the 5.8. To order one they ask for the Ford number on your module so you get the right replacement.
I'll have to take a good look at mine and get the numbers.
