I wonder what the result will be in terms of flood damage. The pics I see on TV prediscts significant damage from the storm surge. I wonder how extensive it will be on the infrastructure, especially concerning the energy sector.

I don't think Ike is blowing hard enough to do much for the off shore oil rigs or the refineries...but the flooding will likely be pretty bad.
BTW: Gas jumped an average of about 35 cents today... in Dallas. No reason for it here.
Gov. Perry stated for those that did not evacuate Evacuation Zones that there would be no rescue efforts during the storm but, they could be assured that every effort would be made....for their recovery.
This morning it was reported that desperate but, futile, 911 calls were made during the worst parts of the storm.
Well even after a hurricane still no rain thats "Central Texas" lol
I think if that cold front did not come in the storm would of shifted more west the forcast looks great here next week high's in the lower 80's low's in the upper 60's
We live on the west side of Houston. Ike went east of us last night but we were fortunate not to have any damage or lose power. Others in the east and south parts of Houston took a heavy hit. Downtown Houston looks like a battle zone. Broken glass and debris are everywhere. Galveston and Kemah also took a major hit. Thousands of people without power and they are saying it will take weeks to get the power restored. It as been 25 years since Houston was hit by Alicia but this storm was every bit as bad.
Thank you lenny1carl for your thoughts and prayers.
Just the basics are truly a blessing to so many people right now.
It will take a long time for the Gulf Coast from Galveston to Port Arthur
to get back to normal, if it ever happens.
