ATF temperature

Has anyone that tows fairly heavy trailers 8000 lbs. plus, installed an ATF temperature guage. I'm curious about what kind of temperatures are reached while towing with factory towing package.

With outside temps in the 80s, pulling a 26 foot 6500 pound travel trailer, my EDGE reports temps between 190- 200 degrees F.

You might want to post this question in the Towing or Transmission forums...lots of good answers there.

Good luck,

KD4RS is right on. In many occassions I towed a landscape trailer with 2 cu yd. of top soil ( approx. 7000lbs) and the edge reading for the ATF was between 190-200F depending on the outside temperature. When the trailer was fairly empty (about 2000 lbs), the reading was 160-170F. Hope this help.

I have a 2007 F150 XLT 5.4L 3.73LS 4x2 with tow package.
