'95 Explorer power door lock problem

The driver's door lock switch on my 1995 Explorer will only lock but not unlock the remaining door locks. The passenger door lock switch and hatch lock switch function normally. The driver's door switch worked erratically for a period of time before totally failing to unlock. Forum discussions suggest that the unlock wire to the switch separated inside the flexible housing from the door to the cab. This makes sense to me. I am uncertain of the difficulty of removing the trim panel from the drivers door to enable snaking a new wire from the switch to ? (I'm not sure to what). I have accessed the wire cluster just inside the door pillar at the floor. My question is - Can I just splice in to the pink unlock wire (not yet sure which of the 4 pink wires with tracers is the unlock wire) to connect it to a dash mounted "button" with a power or ground wire ? I could also pose the question as - What should I do to restore my ability to unlock the remaining doors from the driver's seat (other than leaning over to push the passenger door switch)?
