i understand how to take everything out for the auto hubs, but when i put the new ones in i dont use the spacer and c clip that was behind the auto hub??and i also called bronco graveyard and asked them if i use the c clip that came with the mile marker manual hubs and they told me the smaller clip are for the axle shafts and they are not used.they told me to just slide in the new hub and use the big retaining ring and that was it.but i dont see how that thin retaining ring is going to hold everything together.i need help with this, cause ill be doing this tomorrow.i got the pick tools, needle nose pliers so im all set.any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.by the way this is a 93 bronco with 5 screw cap
I dont have the five screw kind, so it may be differnt. But on mine the small c-clip keeps the axle from going inward. It must be used! Also I recomend grinding/fileing the ends of the big clip so you can get a pick under the next time you pull it apart. It makes it sooo much ezier.
That spacer & inner C-ring are there to hold the axle stub OUTboard, so the u-joint remains aligned between the ball joints. Most manual locks won't fit over those parts, so they must be removed. But that function is performed by the E-ring that goes here:
So as long as you install that ring, the stub axle will be in the correct position.
