exaust idea's

i would like to do stacks on my truck but i have a large pickup camper that i use on occasion so that isn't really an option. so i was eather thinking dual side pipes like alot of people put on the 80's vette stingrays or maby rather than running the stacks threw the bed running them up the outside beside the cab, what do you guys think?

i have a buddy in your same situation with stacks and a camper shell. he built the single stack so he could add a 90* elbow and direct the exhaust out the side. then in the camper shell he cut a hole just big enough for the pipe to fit. when he puts his shell on he clamps on the 90* pipe and it sticks out hardly 2". and yes the side of the shell quickly becomes black, lol.

i have always wanted to see someone scoot the bed back enough to fit stacks between the cab and bed... that way you'd keep all your bedspace. problem is getting the bed to not hang over the bumper and mis aligning the wheel-wells with the tires! i guess you could cut the frame and stretch it but i wouldnt trust it for towing after that!

I have seen stacks on the outside of the bed but it was on a duall and didn't look all that bad. But Like I said it was a dually. I think SRW would look terrible.
Tim has a pipe that he puts on his for when he has his shell on. It comes out in front of the rear tire. When he is done he puts the stacks back on.

Im with Neal, seen a couple with stacks outside the bed and,,,, well they just look bad.

Absolutely with out a doubt the COOLEST looking non-stack truck I have ever seen was crew cab single wheel OBS with HUGE semi stacks, looked like 6", running horizonaly. They were maybe 4" (top of pipe) under the doors and went all the way back to in front of the rear wheels with the turn outs pointing at a 45 down and out. They then cut the ends of the turnouts flat (for lack of a better term??) or maybe straight up and down?, wish I had a dang pic of the truck. The pipes were about half under the cab and half outside if you know what I am saying? The front end of the pipes was blocked off and the exhaust came into the pipes at a handy place about middle of the rear doors. On top of the pipes they had welded on some slotted metal heat shielding and flat plates at each door so the pipes could be used like a runningboard/step. The deep boom sound from those big long pipes was realy unique. Sorry for half arsed explanation, hope you get the point?

Up by my friends dads house theres a truck with stacks outside the bed and it looks really bad in my opinion, but everyone has their own.
Before I had stacks on my truck I just had a downpipe, and took out the cat, then took out the stock muffler. So it had all the stock piping just straight piped. It sounded really good in my opinion, my turbo screamed and everyone loved it. Why not just save a few bucks and do that?

the stock exhaust system is extremely restrictive maybe that's why? that downpipe barely flows... but that's looking at it from a performance perspective.... i know just changing my downpipe (i had stacks with the stock downpipe then with a new downpipe) i got a slightly deeper growl and a little more turbo whistle at steady throttle
