Too much Lumbar Support! (2000 Excursion)

Just bought the truck last Sunday, still learning about it.

It feels like I'm leaning back against a pregnant woman or something!

It's the luxury leather model with fully adjustable electric seats.
The lumbar support is adjusted with a wheel/**** at the side of
the seat cushion.

I adjusted it all the way in, and it still sticks out too much for me.

Is there a way to get into the seat back to see if maybe the
previous owner added extra lumbar support or something?

Can I just give it a good hard whack with a very large sledge hammer

Uh, the pregnant woman might not care for it......

I have a 2000 X Limited and the support seems just fine, and I'm a big guy.....

Lumbar support

Those seats are tricky to adjust until you get use to it. The back will also recline. Recline the back one notch at a time and adjust the power tilt of the seat. In other words just fiddle around with it.
Hope this helps.

Crack open the seat and send me your lumbar support...I could use some more.

Gives you a great reason to reupholster your seats.

Thanks.
Yes, I can feel the lumbar support adjusting when I turn the adjustment wheel.

I noticed that I have not only redline, but can raise the front of the seat,
or raise the rear of the seat, or both (raise/lower entire seat).

The recline is manual, raise/lower front &/or back of seat is electric.

BTW, does the Excursion have the feature where different keys will
set up the seat to each driver's preferences (so I would have one
key, and my wife a different one, and the electric settings would
adjust for whichever key is sensed in the ignition)?

I'll try fiddling with some of that... also I will see if raising the seat
electrically moves only the seating part or moves the seatback
with it. If it only moves the bottom of the seat, I can adjust how
high the lumbar support will hit me in my back, which may help.

I might just try kicking the lumbar support - I read in another
message thread that it's sheetmetal.

Thanks, and please keep the ideas coming!

I know my acura had the key fob and seat memory tied together but Ford did not know that back then or they failed to apply it to our truck. You have to push the button each time instead of key fob memory. Same crap that we do not have one touch up windows...those switches were only available on imports...

If Toyota offered a FJ Cruiser with a diesel engine, better mirrors,
and no opaque glass in the back (full visibility) I would be driving one.

Are you saying that there is a memory on the seat settings, but you
have to push a button for it to auto-adjust? or is there no memory at all?

Not sure if your truck has it, but I have memory seats on my 03 limited. Just press a button on the door in park or neutral and the seat adjusted to one or the other presets.

Once programed all I have to do is push the unlock button on FOB and seat returns to memory settings along with mirrors (outside only), peds.

Hummmm, I wonder if my mirrors program also? Never tried it. Didnt know that it recognized key fobs as well? I only got 1 key and key fob when I bought my truck.

If you have the memory buttons on the drivers door labled 1 & 2 and your mirrors are power they should, but since you have one FOB you need to find out which memory that is tied to 1 0r 2, BTW if you would say have 3 FOBS the third memory is 1&2 pressed at the same time. Check your manual it will tell you all about this function

I'll have to look for that in the owner's manual.
I haven't gotten that far in reading the manual yet... it's 232 pages
so I have a long way to go before I have read it all.
And then there's the Diesel Supplementary Manual and the Maintenance Schedule.
The 4WD manual is all stuff I already knew.

Your 2000 is not going to have the memory seats, they became available in 2003.
