fuel pump wiring

fuel pump wiring

my truck has an electric fuel pump that is wired thru the ignition switch......the only safe way that i found to do it is thru the oil press switch, well i dont have one......anyone know how else to wire is safely?

The oil pressure switch is the best way. If you don't have one, then go buy one and add it. You will also have to buy a relay to actually control the pump, since the pressure switch will not be able to handle the current load of the pump. You can buy a pressure switch for a mid 80's f250 with a 460, and a bosch type foglamp relay, and it should work.

i have mechanical guages, that is why i have no pressure switch

Then use something like this:


You will also have to put a wire from your starter solenoid starter side to the pump side (relay side) of the oil pressure switch to start the truck.
