Help finding entry code

My 05 Ex has KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM but I did not get code when I picked it up ( Jeep Dealer ) and wallet card is not here. In manual states " is marked on computer module" but does not say where to locate computer module, so my question is where is the computer module located with the code? Hate to take to Ford, for this god knows how much they will charge me. Hope someone knows

The computer is just behind and left of the steering column and is bolted to the firewall. You should be able to see the sticker without removing the computer from the truck if I remember right.

If you do a search using the search function there is a previous thread on this exact topic. I followed the directions from the thread and found my code last week. It was rather easy definitely helps to have a flashlight. Goodluck

You may have to remove the bolt from the plastic "pocket" the ECU fits into and remove the pocket to see it.

Are you sure you found the right module? On my Excursion I found the module directly behind the CD6 player. I could see it by going under the little trash bag hook in the center of the dashboard. The code was facing the firewall, therefore could not read the code. So I took a fingernail and peeled it off very slowly and very carefully. I then stuck it in the back of the Owner's Manual for future reference.

-------------------------------------

Here's a post I made back in July of 2007.....

This is how I found mine............

1- By sight, I found the module directly behind my AM/FM/CD6 player at the firewall. Mine is black plastic, as opposed to some being light gray or white. The module has a sticker with the door code printed on it.

2- I could not read the code from any imaginable angle because of wires, cables, crossbars, etc...... Even my daughter who is 1/4 my age and half my size couldn't see the code from any angle whatsoever.

3- I went to the passenger's side under the "trash bag hanger?" and stuck my hand up to the module. There was plenty of room to reach up to it, but not enough room to read the code. I felt the sticker on the module from top to bottom, side to side. {It's sometimes on the firewall side of the module.} I prepared my attack.

4- I started on one corner with a fingernail and peeled the sticker off very slowly so as to not damage or destroy it.

5- To save the next owner the same troubles, I stuck the sticker on the inside of the last page in Owner's Manual.

Once I located the exact location of the module, the entire procedure took less than 20 to 30 seconds.

On my 03 there was a large sticker on the module with bar code on it. There were a few different numbers on the sticker. The info from the thread I used said the number were very large and its a 5 digit code.
I removed the fuse panel cover and shined a flashlight up behind the radio towards the firewall. I will day it wasn't easy finding the code there was a thick wiring harness that blcoked the code. I had to hold the flashlight and push the harness out of the way. It would be easier if there was a thrid hand to hold the light, but it can be done by yourself. If your a big guy its going to be more difficult. I did read that one person used mirror to view the sticker.

Big guy. Check. Need third hand. Check. Too many wires. Check. I was having all of the problems mentioned above. Then I had an idea. I took my cell phone camera, turned on the spot light, squeezed it up in the area behind the CD player and started taking pics. After about 10 pictures I pulled it out. On the third picture, BINGO!! Best use for a cell phone camera I've found yet!

I've said before on here as well - I just drove into the dealer service dept., told them I needed it - they took the VIN, came back in about 3 minutes and gave it to me, and programmed a new one for me. Must depend on the mood of the service mgr., because it's obviously something they can do quickly via computer...

Sounds like I was not looking at the right module, I was looking at the "main Brain" left of steering wheel next to E brake ped. so I will look behind the radio/ CD player. Why take it to a dealer if I can do myself and learn something about my new beast.

I got the code by taking it to the local Ford Dealer, they hooked there computer up to the ODB2 port and had it in 2 mins, charged me $18 it was worth it. I could see the module behind the radio buy could not see the sticker with the code, but thanks for all the help and I tried.

I made a lil how to with pictures and everything. It should take you all of 1 minute to get your code. Things needed, mirror, flashlight, a shirt you dont mind getting a lil dirty possibly.
