i have a 2000 F350, in about a month ill be putting a 6" lift on it. The problem im having is finding tires. Im deployed in Iraq right now so all my research has been online. im looking for around a 35 or 36", and using the stock size rims. using wheel spacers has crossed my mind, but i do still plan on towing with it( around 8000lbs ) Ive even thought of getting a " Big Rig" kit, but the only quote i was able to get was a little past the limits of my wallet. so, can anyone give me a good place to start? Thank you for your time!
I dont know about lifts for duallys but i have heard that fabtech makes good lifts and i have one and i tow 7k and its still tows well with very little sag. BTW i wouldnt use wheel spacers as they are bad for your front end.
I’ve got an 07 dually that I’ve got a Rancho lifted 4”. Here’s what I’ve found so far in my research. There are two types of wheels spacers on the market, one is aluminum that I see on e-bay for 200 bucks or so and the other is billet steel from
They are made for the rear wheels to get enuff space between them to keep them from rubbing together. As far as I know ya don’t need anything for the front end, except maybe cutouts from someone like Bushwacker - Fender Results
All that depends on how large of a tire you plan on running. Most tires are either 12.50 or 70 metric width, but Super Swamper makes a 10.50 width in their SSR Radial. That I’ve seen on other dually’s on the forum an they are E rated to boot!
Here’s a link to a truck shop in South Texas that has built a bunch of trucks. Truck Toyz Performance .. Experience Matters! It has a gallery that you can choose different parameters such as truck make, year, lift height and tire size, an it will let ya look thru those trucks, that’ll give ya something to look and think over as you choose your goodies.
I’m still using the factory tires at the moment due to the fact that I want to be there(HOME) in the land of breastNbeer when I put 35 X12.50/17’s on it, an it’s kinda hard to do so from over here isn’t it
You need wheel spacers between the rear duals for anything over a 255mm width to prevent rubbing under load.
Also, be sure to specify that you have a dually when you order the suspension and you need larger rear u-bolts due to the diameter of the Dana 80 rear axle on the DRW trucks.
Thank you for your input. I looked at most of the links and found just what i need. However, i have one final question. If i were to use a 35 x 12.5 tire on a 16 x 6 rim, will encounter any problems with the tires ballooning out? Thanx again
Honda, You will need at least a 8 in. rim, I would think. I think I would want a 10 in. rims. I know that if you are going to do much towing that you definately don't want you tires balooning.
honda, i have a 99 lifted dually with a fabtech lift and 35's on it. you do need the spacer for the real wheels and get at least 8" rims. i actually have eagle 589 rims instead of the stock ones. you will have to do some research to find a company that has aftermarket dually wheels. keep you head down over in the sand--i will be over there in 5 months on my ship.
Chief, so i was thinking about a 2" spacer fr the rear would work? and ive looked high and low for some rims, the best i can find is a 17x6.5, any ideas? thank you for your support
