what rear end on F450

You have a 4:88 with a Detroit true trac. I don't know what you are going to gain going to 4:30s. If you think your going to get better fuel economy it will be so slight you will never get the cost back to regear the front and rear diffs.
The S110 is a easy axle to work on pull the axle shafts out unbolt the third member and wrestle it out from under the truck.
Any good gear shop that deals with medium duty trucks can get you a gear set for the 3rd member. The Dana 60 you can deal through one of those automotive gear shops.
I wouldn't ever dream of going taller than 4:30 axle ratio.

If I regear it would be 3.73 or 4.10

This I know, and plan on doing the work.

Not true, the problem is this is A farly new rear end and the shops I called are trying to figure out the tone ring on A non factory ratio. And how much of the carrier needs to be replaced. I seems the ring gear and side cover for carrier are one peice.

You bought a F-450 to haul a heavier trailer or loads that are 6000lbs. I have a 2003 F-450 with 4:30s the axle gears are border line for any load. I have a 6spd manual and I can't use 6th gear (overdrive).
I have owned F-450s starting with F-Superduty trucks for 10 years or more. I have had one truck with 5:13 gears with 5spd you want to talk about engine screaming.
A F-450 is designed to haul a load not get fuel mileage of a Ford ranger.
I find it funny that you guys would spend thousands to save pennies

3.73s
Hey F250Wheels awesome job! Please tell us, did you have to reflash the CPM - sounds like you did not? I discussed a swap with my dealer they said they could only go to 4.30s and keep warranty as the 4.10s and 3.73s were not offered. Have you discussed any warranty issues?
I'm towing on average 15k lbs... but will hit 18k - 19k once in a while.
I just now have 11,000 miles and have noticed a 1 mpg gain; I'm getting 9mpg now towing - yeah!
thanks!

The dealer only going with 4.30 has nothing to do with warranty, The tone ring for speedo will only work on 4.88 and 4.30. I got around this by installing A gear on back of transfer output shaft and installing sensor on bracket mounted to transfer case. If I was hauling A lot of weight I wouldn;t have gone this high of raio. I got the 450 on A great deal and it will work great with my plans on A slide in camper and A 7000 pound trailer. the only warranty problem I see is if I have speedo or rearend trouble.

Do you have a parts list to make this switch? I contacted Ford dealer and they don't know where to start... I may go to a gear shop, but would still appreciate knowing what's worked already.. Ford said they didn't make this gear set for the 450 application so if you could expand a bit what you did, would really be great..
thanks in advance!
