Who has one and what do you use them for?
I just got a Garmin 60 CSX handheld unit. It is pretty neat. Can't wait to use it this winter snowmobiling (at least I'll know where I'm lost!)
Now I'm looking for some trail maps which will be nice a hunting season too.
i don't have one, but its on my list of little toys. i bought my parents one last fall. a garmin e-trex. they really like it. they use it to mark berry patches when they're off roading
I have a handheld magellen, it worked great for fishing this summer with the in-laws. We found a good spot and could go back to it the rest of the week. I just got a Garmin nuvi for in the vehicle last week and it works very well. voice prompts to direct you right where you want to go. It also has six million points on intrest like, resturants, hotels, gas stations, shops, ect.
i've been watching one on ebay, can't remember if it was tom-tom or magellan, but it fits right into the little junk tray on the dash or the '07-'08 f150's and looks built in. really neat looking unit, but i'm hoping they drop in price.
We watched some units on ebay and even though they were cheaper the duty and shipping put the cost up. Got mine from GPS Central in Calgary.
Now I need some maps for off trails.
My brother in law is always yapping that he can get good deals on gps through his work. If anyone ever wants one, before they buy em somewhere else, let me know and Ill ask him what his price is.
I got one of the first Garmin Etreks that were available in Stoon - I had been on a waiting list. I have used it lots but its the older version where maps cant be downloaded so we got a list of places/coordinates and manually entered them for our key sledding areas - it worked well. I wouldnt mind an upgrade - few friends have the fancier etreks and they are cool. My brother has a Nuvi with some special software through the fire dept that can use actual land locations as well as maps for navigation but its not a portable, its a vehicle unit. We use GPS guidance in our sprayer tractor as well!
I sure have liked to mark so big stones in the field when I was summerfallowing so I could have remembered where it was to come back with the rock digger.
I got a LMS-335 colour Gps ,depth finder for the boat and If a person wanted to you could put in a vehcle with little trouble at all. It's got great street and road software and of course water way software as well. Aj46
