If your lookin for an axle shaft, no part store will carry it. Your best shot would be any kind of U-pull-it or salvage yard. Ebay also has some good deals on thing like that.
I should have added that this might be the time to search the salvage yards for a slightly newer axle with open knuckles, and disc brakes. The conversion is easy, and well worth the effort. Probably cost about the same as just replacing an axle shaft, and you would have a much better axle. Heak, might even find a nice high pinion axle. These are stringer and will have discs on them already.
Just a thought.
The tag on the cover has these numbers;
4.09 D3TA GA / 603395-1 / Can you guys tell me where I might find a left front axle assemble for this 1975 F-250. The local parts stores kinda laugh when I say 1975. Bob
What exactly are you looking for, an axle shaft? Ford never sold the entire assembly, individual parts only.
This is a Ford dealer item only, no parts store carries these parts.
D3TA-GA: 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Front Driving Axle / Parts list # 30.2C
C7TZ3220A .. Left Axle Shaft / 28 11/32" long / Obsolete
Fits various Dana 44's from 1967 thru 1979.
Internet search: No Ford or Ford Obsolete Parts Dealer has a new one.
There is two splined shafts connected by a universal that transfers power from the differential to the wheel (out through the hub). The universal broke while I was pulling very hard. The pressure bent the ends of the shafts where the universal caps fit, so I would need to replace three parts; two shafts and one universal. I would appreciate helping me properly name these parts and find new or used ones.
These axle shafts are refered to as the inner shaft, and outer, or "stub shaft".
The stub shaft is the small splined shaft that penetrates the hub, and the inner shafts are identified as the long (pass side) and short (driver side).
The inner shaft term, is recognized, and the term outer, or stub is also recognized.
The last part, you already have, and that is the axle universal joint.

D3TA-GA / Parts List #30.5C (not 2C, as I listed above...that was a typo)
I found the following two parts NOS (new old stock):
B9TZ3249A .. Axle Shaft U-Joint Kit / Obsolete
C7TZ3B387A .. Front Axle Yoke Shaft / Right/Left is the same / Obsolete
Obsolete Ford parts seller greensalescompany.com located in Cincinnati, OH (800-543-4959 M/F-8/5 EDT) has 24 of the U-Joint Kits and 2 of the Yoke Shafts.
This is the only place in the US that has the Yoke Shaft, no Ford dealer or other Ford obsolete parts dealer has any.
But, I was unable to find C7TZ3220A .. Axle Shaft, which is the complete assembly (all three of these parts).
