Hi there new to the forum but I was just looking for some info that maybe one of you guys might know of. I am looking for a plastic V10 I can mac up with. I just need to see what I need to fabricate to fit the engine in the engine bay. Any help would be a help, thanks.
I've not heard of a plastic V10 for that purpose. Just not enough transplants out there to justify one, I suppose. Or...I just haven't ever seen one. Either way.
Well with what I started with was an 04' Lightning but it has gone through many changes but this one will finish it off once and for all. It was the mod bug that bit me and now me and my buddy are going to build a show truck when it is all done. I was going to originally go with a 32V with a blower setup but too many owners are doing that then it was a 374ci stroker but that will soon be common too. However a TT V10 in a Lightning body has not been done that I am aware of yet.
To break down the whole thing here is the big things of the project:
V10
TT
IRS
T6060 tranny
As it sits right now we are fabricating the frame before we send it off to powdercoat it.
here is a pic of what it was before we ripped it apart:
and here is the blog I haven't updated in months (money tree dried up) 32V GT500 6 Speed

Sorry I was having a brain fart earlier today since I was looking at the mule V10 mach mustang. I couldn't separate the two words
Neat project, but you need to turn the heat up on the welder or get a 220V welder. those joints will probably hold, but man, you are'nt getting much penetration at all, most of the weld is on top.
look forward to seeing more pictures, guessing $80K budget? or are you able to do about everything in house?
If you want a mock-up V10, look around for one that's considered a dead engine. Then if you want to get the weight down, you can pull the rotating assembly out of it.
Really, though, I'd just buy the engine you intend on using and use it. Nothing says you can't do mock-ups with the real thing.
Wow, don't say that to the 3v owners. J/K. Please keep us posted. I am eager, I have tried to put one in a 1968 cougar but it's just impossible.
If I was going with the 374ci then I would have gone with the 4v less torque but more hp. When you get over 500 hp ft/lbs who really can tell if you lose 50 hp or 40 ft/lbs there.....
Yes 2v insted of the 3v the heads will fit better and I think the 2v will have more torque.
I think its wise to go with the 2V because of more parts availability and its less complex than the 3V. I'm shure with TT power would be more than enough from either. Keep us posted down the road.
