hello, does anyone know if vanir technologies is still in business or not? i have typed their web address in my computer 6 ways to sunday and cant find them? i need some performance goodies for my truck. thanks, matt
his book is where i got this company name from. it has been advertised here on the fte forum quite a few times also. i just thought somebody might know. thanks, matt
try to look over EU sites. 2.8V6 was very opular here (Scorpio, Sierra) and there were many interesting engine mods. Try to look in UK.
These engines were assembled at the Ford plant in Cologne Germany, not in Dagenham, England.
First car (imported into the US) that had a 2.6 = 1970 Mercury (German Ford) Capri, the engine was later enlarged to 2.8.
The Mercury Scorpio (Ford Sierra in Germany) were imported here in 1986 (thru 1988). It was an abject failure. The car was totally unprepared for the US market.
Ford couldn't use the Sierra name in the US, as GM was already using it.
There was a companion car, the XR4Ti. It was supposed to compete with the BMW, but that was another failure.
Ford overpriced it, and it used same 2.3 4 banger turbo engine as was used in Mustang's and Pinto's. That engine was its stigmata, it killed whatever chance the car had.
Peeps were unwilling to shell out big bucks for a German car with that "Pinto" engine, even tho the engine was another product of the Ford of Germany Cologne plant.
nevermind guys. i just did a search here on the fte forums and found out that vanir stopped making parts for the v6 engines. i now wonder if they sold their stock and/or tooling to another company? thanks again, matt. if you type in vanir in the search forum, there are many posts.
