Ok, I'm finally at the point where I'm about to install my TCI 4link. I read some threads sometime back and if I remember correctly there was some mention about setting the pinion angle for the rear. I'm not sure if they were talking specifically about a 4 link setup or something else but I want to be sure this goes waaaay smother than the front end did. I'm about to start welding on the brackets to my axle and I need to know how to set the angle.
With a 4 link you have the ability to do some adjustment to the pinion angle. Most people use an angle of 2-3 degrees down on the engine/tranny and 2-3 degrees up for the pinion, resulting in parallel centerlines. As stated above, a search on "pinion angle" should give you several minutes of reading time.
I did a search and found John Nolans write up on the subject (very informative) as well as a few other threads. I have a much better idea of how the pinion angle should be set now. One thing I'm not sure about is setting it without any weight on the frame. I read where this was a concern that some people had. I have a bare frame and the only thing sitting on it is the cab at this point. Will 2-3 degrees be a good point to shoot for with a bare unweighted frame? Also, I'm using air bags with my suspension if this makes a difference.
