looking for 3/4 ton. gas or diesel? diesel, 6.0 or 7.3. it'll be a daily driver not much "work" being done. what will be the best as far as maint. cost and mpg.
anyone like the cummings over powerstroke?
Well I like the older Cummins but not the truck and trannys, thats about it there. If you find a later model P-stroke with a later build 6.0 in it you will be ok. I know of a regular cab 5.4 lifted on 35s for sale if your intrested. Its in PA
I don't know about your area, but diesel is $0.50-$1 more than regular grade gas. Last I've heard the LSD is not giving the economy the old diesel did. People I know were getting close to my mileage, I'd stick with gas if you aren't towing. If I had to do it again, I would opt for the v10, my 5.4 took a lot of work to get where I am at and I believe the V10 would be even further ahead.
Diesels hold a lot more oil, something to the tune of 3 times more. I believe the intervals are close, so the diesels will cost more in oil. However, the diesels are typically good for 500k miles, so it should live a little longer. It's half dozen of one and six of the other unless you have a purpose for it.
