Transmisson Dash Indicator Help
The gear selector indicator on the dash of my automatic transmission is now showing the wrong gear I'm in. For example when in Drive it shows 2nd and when in Park in shows Reverse. Tranny seems to be shifting just fine. Any ideas what could be the problem and how to fix it? Had tranny overhauled 20,000 miles ago and had a shift kit put in too.

Did it just happen recently or has it always been that way. Did you recently install any new lift on the truck? I had a lift on a 150 that through mine off a little bit to the right of its normal location.

The shift indicator is run by a small cable that hooks to the shift lever, and it should be adjustable. You'll probably have to pull the dash bezel off, or you could just poke around with a flashlight until you find it- should be a small black wheel. Spin that little puppy until it lines up right and you're set.
