My nightmare
I bought a 79 f150 4x4 early last year with a 351m and the motor seems to be shot. Well I bought a 77 Ltd with a 400 the next day before that somebody gave me a 77 F150 supercab for parts the motor was out already, and I had the 400 that came in my 77 F150 4x4 that I replaced with a 460. a couple months ago I tore the 400 apart from my 1st pickup, both heads were cracked and the block was bored to the limit already, so tore apart the 351m from the supercab, the heads were good but the block was cracked. So the other day my friends dad and I pulled the motor, trans and axle from the Ltd. Funny part was the car had been parked for 11 years and had a full tank of gas lol and it still burned so we dumped it in to his Farmall H. I tore the motor apart yesterday and will take it to the machine shop monday morning. If this block is no good then the last option I have is the 351m in the 79 pickup. Has anyone else had this much bad luck? this isnt the first time ive found bad parts, my 460 had 2 broke heads. But this is rediculous dont you think, I wish these car crushers new the parts they were destroying were worth more than the scrap weight of the car.
