Hello. We just got a 2000 F150 7700 series and are having 2 issues.
The first, ALL my lights are working except my reverse lights......Can anyone point me in the right direction. I have already checked the bulbs and fuses.
Second, My overhead council isn't working at all........
After fuses and bulbs, I would look at the switch on the transmission. There should be a wire this hot with the ign on and one that is hot with the ign on and the trans in reverse. It could be as simple as the switch is out of alignment, or the switch has failed.
If you have an automatic, they now call it a "Digital Transmission Range" sensor or DTR. It still has a black pink coming out of it that goes to the rear lights. It's mounted down low, a little bit toward the front on the driver's side of the tranny.
If you have a manual tranny, then you have just a simple reverse switch. It's also located on the driver's side of the tranny, though a little bit higher up the side of the tranny, and close up front near the bellhousing. Fuse #5, 15 amp feeds these switches in both cases. It's in the fuse box under the dash.
As for your console, you probably have the common problem associated with the later consoles, and that is the resistors were not soldered very good to the circuit board, and they fall off. If you take it apart, don't lose any of them and you can solder them back on and get it working again. Do a search on the web or this board, and there is a good article where a guy shows how to fix this if it turns out to be your problem.
