Advice PLEASE!! 2000 F450 problems.

Hi Guys, I have been reading your posts trying to get some ideas on where my problem may be but I am just getting more confused.
I have a 2000 F450, 7.3 PSD, 6 spd. manual, 152,000 miles.

I started getting the service engine soon light with a rough idle at start up untill fully warmed up, now it sometimes will wait until I start driving to pop on but with the same result. It seems to need a load on the engine after warm to clear up, like pulling a big hill.

After reading many threads I took it and had the codes read, I was told I had a code for #4 injector, the guy told me it was either the IDM, or the under valve cover harness..... Does this sound correct? It feels like an injector to me but????? If it was a wire harness why would it clear consistantly? The only reason I think it could be the computer is because sometimes I will loose throttle when at idle going into gear, no throttle and service engine light. Is this connected or a seperate issue???

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

UVCH is my first guess. if one of the connections under the VC is making intermittent contact when cold, when it warms up it may expand silghtly and complete the circuit.

As far as the no throttle when going into gear, I would check your TPS (throttle position sensor) on the back of your go pedal.

When getting the codes read, try to get the actual number of the code as sometimes that will help. I'd agree with Brandon. The first thing to check will be the UVCH (Under Valve Cover Harness).

You'll be looking for something like this

The #4 injector is on the driver side, so that's the valve cover you need to pull off. As long as you've got the valve cover off, be sure and re-torque the rocker arm pedestal bolts to 20 ft lbs, and the lower injector hold down bolts to 120 in lbs.

If it's just a loose clip you can make a shim to keep it from happening again. Just make sure whatever you use to shim the connector doesn't have a way of falling out. I shaved the end of a quarter down for mine.
