Need help on finding tires...

I have an 86 f150. Im looking for some tires that are wide and come almost flush with the wheel wells. I dont want them to stick out past the wheel wells because i am afraid of the wheel wells diggin into the tires if i take a bump too fast. I want the speedo to read roughly the same n not be off too much. I currently have 7 inch wide rims and am goin to upgrade to 8 inch, maybe 10 if needed to get this look for my truck. I have seen this look on other vehicles before and love it. Just today i saw an older lightning, well it might have been a regualer f150 but had lightning logos, but the tires were nice n wide and filled the whole gap between the wheel wells without stickin out. thats kind of the look im lookin for.

thanks everyone

8's are about as wide as you need for them to be flush with the wheel wells.

I do too, I bought some rims that were 9" wide and had the right hole centers and looked like a good backset. Then I found some wide tires, (a little narrower than I want, but close...). I had my neighbor mount one up for me. We struggled with that tire but finally got it on. He made the comment that it acted like it was a 16" rim. I measured it and found out it was!!!!! We pulled the tire off without airing it up because I figured if we seated the beads, it may never come back off. I bought the rims at a swap meet and they were labed as 15"- the one measurement I hadn't taken on them!!!! So I either need some wide 16" tires or some wide 15" rims. And I bought new trim rings for those rims..... guess what size? So, while I can't help you- I might get some good info from someone who can!
