hi guys i found this truck for sale at Canada Used Autos, Cars, Trucks, Boats, Motorcycles Online Classified Ads - AutoTrader.ca i don't know how much mileage it has on it but the price is pretty good $15,995.00. the only reason why i am having second thoughts whether to buy this truck or not is cause it is a diesel and i live in a very cold climate up here in canada. this truck is way to big to fit inside my garage and installing all the extra mods to it like high idle and hooking up a heater for the battries, oil pan and transmission seems pretty complicated and confusing to me anyways. i was thinking maybe just buy a nice used black or silver/grey f150 fx4 but this f350 looks bad a@# i know i don't really need a truck the size of a f350 cause it's just going to be used as my daily driver, but like said it just looks really cool and the price is pretty good too. Anyways anyone and everone with thoughts or opinions on the matter feel free to chime in. Thanks
I am from North Dakota and it gets plenty cold there too. All we ever did was plug the block heater in and it was just fine. Just takes a little while longer to warm up the transmission. As long as the batteries are good we never had a problem with them freezing. Just My Opinion. JMO
I can see why you want to buy it that is a awesome truck alright really I wouldnt worry to much about cold starting like in Saskatchewan here lots of people only have to plug it in and probably let the glow plugs do its thing and they fire they are really different now designed to start in the cold I dont know how cold it gets in Manitoba
but it gets pretty cold here in Sask in winter time you could get a battery blanket for it as well
I have an 03(although its a 7.3) and it starts great in the winter. I run 0-40 synthetic, and plug it in. There was a few times when it got down to be minus 20 and it wasnt plugged in and it started. Wouldnt recomend not plugging it in though!
Out in the oil patch in alberta where i work, I see all sorts of diesels and they all start, plugged in!
The mods are easier than you think. Definately want to check out the mileage and if possible get an oasis report on it to see what issues it's had. It's a good looking truck for sure! (My 04 F250 is the same paint scheme.)
thanks for the help guys! The only other reason why i might not buy this truck is because it is a beast of truck and i am just gonna use it as my daily driver. But i guess lots people have big modifed diesel trucks like this they never use them for work ,maybe do a little off roading with there trucks sometimes and that's about it. Anyways thanks for the help fellas see ya!
Oasis for sure. I went through a lot of vin #'s before settling on my '05 with an excellent past. There's a ton of these trucks out there, be paitent for a "reliable one".
I'm also form ND and haven't had any trouble starting mine, just plug it in and don't worry. It'll clatter a little more for a while but seems to do just fine once a little bit of heat builds up.
