OK, for about a year now my EGT's have been a little high at cruising speeds. They went from around 600 to around 800/ 850 on the highway. If I punch it, it will go over 1000 pretty easy, if I have a tune in it will hit 1100. This is just on flat road too, no trailer, just the truck (Excursion). Have had it in a few times, but just get the regular dealer banter- no codes, no problem. Any idea what this could mean?
On a separate but maybe related issue, I have recently been puking coolant in the engine compartment. The first time I noticed it was when I towed a pretty big race trailer with our jeep and some household items (master bedroom) from Austin to Vegas. Here are a few pics:
I think this is only happening when I am towing a trailer and putting a little load on the truck. I need to clean it off and see if it does it when I am just towing the bass boat.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks guys.
How much coolant is/was in your degauss bottle? By the looks of it you have one of the old ones... you only want to fill it to the MIN line, don't go over.
First clue for puking like yours is either EGR cooler or head gaskets. That's a lot of puke, so I doubt it's the bottle cap. If you have it puking mostly under load, than I would bid on head gaskets. It won't be better, just worse. You could drive your truck for thousands of miles like this, but I'm not sure I would.
