88 F150 fuel pump problem?
My Dad thinks his 88 F150 4x4 with dual tanks needs a new electric fuel pump.(he can't hear the pump come on) The truck had been running fine but has been sitting for the last few months, when he tried to start it it would not start. The engine will spin fine but will not fire. What is involved in replacing it? Are there some pictures here he could look at to help him? I looked at some pumps on Advance Auto and it says you need two pumps. What's up with that? Thanks

before you replace the fuel pump, rent a fuel gage and check the reading at the rail. there is a fitting that looks like a tire fitting. there should be around 40 psi when you turn the key on. Also remember that there are three pumps in this system, one in each tank to feed fuel and one on the drivers side frame that boosts pressure.
