Tire Size

Hey, Fella's

Saw a almost finished '53 and liked the stance of the tires, he was runnin
FRONT: 195/65R/15
REAR: 235/75R/15

Any one do this application?...He must of had an IFS or something in front cause the wheels looked pretty centered. I'm actually going with Mid fifties NEW mono "centered," front leaf. the research indicates, mono's ride smooth if you replace proper shocks, I'll also, be putting in a front sway bar...it is consideratibly cheaper...than IFS/or Valorie...any thoughts! Now the discussion begins... be nice fella's!!!

IMHO, I think a 195/65 is a bit small for the front of a truck and unless the truck has a very low front suspension, a 65 series profile won't fill the fender well. The 235/75 is great on the rear. I'm running 225/75 in all four corners on my 48. Mono leaves aren't very popular due to expense and the fact that if you break one you have no other leaves to get you home. I prefer an IFS for the improved ride and handling but if you want to keep the straight axle I think a dropped axle with stock multi-leaf springs is a better choice than the mono leaf...

I agree with Great North Woods, that front tire seems really small. I'm running 17 inch so I can't help much. I did have 15's and ran a 225/60/15 on he front and 275/60/15 rear. That was a nice combo also. I suggest you go on the internet and do a search on "tire calculation" You can type in different combinations on sizes and see what the total height, width, etc is on each size tire. I'm running the drop axle front end and also agree with the use of multi springs versus the mono spring. The reverse eye main spring is a popular way of going and cheaper in costs. Not sure if I would go with a sway bar on a straight axle. They tend to rub and are a waste of money unless your planning on racing your truck around corners???. IMHO.

If I were to run 65s on my truck I'd want nothing smaller than about a 215 but the great thing is, it's YOUR truck, so you can run whatever you want on it...

A lot depends on whether you have power steering!

NOPE! still have strong arm steering, I'll also, keep the straight axel, Yes there are benifits to IFS, I just want to keep it simple, I'm not a great fabricator...
