fuel delivery issue....help please!!
1955 f100 292 y 12v electric fuel pump ( rotary style)
removed old fuel pump...it died on me....installed new fuel pump(inline) wired everything up...fuel pump turning on as it should. i have no fuel making it to the carb...its coming out of the tank into the pump through the line to the pressure regulator then nothing....checked the regulator its not clogged mucked up or anything there has to be blockage in the system somehwere????? any similar problems PLEASE HELP.....thanks guys
Has the gas tank been cleaned out recently? If not they, meaning tanks in general, are notorious for cutting loose clogging debris. It may pass fuel pump and regulator, to jam up down the line.
One suggestion is to get a good water separator/filter combo and place it just before the pump. I stopped using in line regulators years ago and use a bypass valve instead. I set the valve for about 4psi to the carburetor and the rest goes back into the tank. This keeps the tank flushed and all the dirt and water that gets in the tank ends up in the water separator/filter combo. This also relieves the strain on the pump which makes it last longer. 7 years and counting on my last new one.
Cheers
