I put some hooker super comp headers on my truck....
95 250 351w
I am currently on my 3rd set up gaskets for the dang things.
The bolts absolutly will not stay tight. Ive tried blue lock tite, ive tried red lock tite. Im so tired of dealing with this crap. One of my biggest pet peeves is exhaust leaks and this things is horrible. I get it all sealed up and it runs nice for a few days then it starts again, i get that side fixed all is good for a few days then the other side starts... Im to the point now that i want to pull the whole motor. and weld that damn headers to the heads. Am i doing something wrong here, or whats the fix... If its just the nature of the beast, then im layin a bead around it, and if that dont fix it, im gunna blow it up. I am so tired of it. Everytime it starts i want to scream and lite my truck on fire.
I have headers on my 74'F-100 302 and on my 04' 6.8l V10 with no leaks and problems. May want to look into Stage 8 locking header bolts. You could smear some Permatex Ultra Copper on the gasket and header surfaces to help seal it up, just don't use too much.
Locktite won't work well on header bolts. Heat melts/loosens up the loctite and renders it about useless.
Im gunna look into the locking header bolts. Ill have to pay someone though, as ive cut up all my credit cards and bank cards, im tired of being ripped of, so i went back to straight cash.
Bank debit cards are just like checks, no fees. You can use it just like a credit card only the $$$ comes out of your checking account. Don't use a debit card over the net, phone the order in.
You'll probably be able to find them on ebay and just send a MO.
That is true, but if im using a debit card its just as easy to use a credit card. Thats my whole thing i swore i would never get one, and i did. Its not maxed out or anything like that, its the system in general that i hate.
THanks for the tip on ebay, i didnt even think about that.
I had the same problem on a 460 in a f250, of the bolts coming loose all the time. I tried the lock bolts but wasn't all that impressed with them, they didn't fall out but they still didn't stay tight. And there were a couple of bolts I couldnt use becuase they were so close to the tube I couldn't get the lock on. I switched to copper gaskets they seemed to do the trick
