No Accelerator pedal

We own 2 Excursions a 2003 7.3 and a 2005 6.0 (both bought new). We have had the wife's car (the 2005 6.0) to the local dealer on several occasions for intermittent loss of accelerator control. This happens intermittently hot or cold. The dealer can find no codes and of course cannot recreate the condition while in shop. He did replace the accelerator module contral at the last visit just because that's the only thing he could think of that would cause the condition, a week ago. This morning my wife called to tell me that she atempted to pull ot a a major intersection on the way to work and it happened, no accelerator. If you switch the vehicle off and then back on, it usually clears the problem. Additionally after this morning incident she seemed to feel the engine was surging. Can anyone offer suggestions as to the possible problem?

I have an 2000 x psd with 167'000 on it and just replaced the whole pedal assy a month ago, sometimes when you wouls accellerate it would not go and then with petal 1/3 down it would take off. That was my fix for my problem. Good Luck

I had a 2002 f 250 that did that but I would lose guages and all. It was a bad wire inside the steering column. but it would blow a fuse too.

Wow! We're right back to the problems disccussed in the thread link below!

The problem seems to affect different things in different Excursions.

Still no fix for me

Va Sheriff, just how does your comment about a previous thread help me? I see that others may have gotten off track on my problem in this thread. I read all of the post in the thread you referenced and there was no mention of loss of accelerator. Your comment and the way it is written will put people off from addressing my problem, because they will assume my issue was your issue and is solved in the thread you referenced.

Captim - did you find the problem? My 2005 6.0 EX does the same thing. Haven't had it to a dealer yet though because it is so intermittent that I doubt it would happen for them during a test drive.

Captim, do you have power adjust pedals? If so, there is a TSB on them because the sensors fail and have the problem you're describing.

The dealership should be aware of this though.

Stewart_H - - -Do you know the TSB number? I just searched them and could not find one related to power adjustable pedals.

I'm not exactly sure what you're describing, but shortly after we bought our '04 Ex 6.0 (used in 2006), I was having fits with surging and/or no acceleration with huffing noises from under the hood...I finally limped in to a service center when the problem was happening and left the engine running so they could see what I was talking about.

Ended up being a turbo change, thank goodness under warranty.
