2003 expedtion problem

On my 2003 expedition 4.6 liter, when i turn on the a/c it trys to stall,(but never has)and i can hear a pump sound(smog pump?)idle is all over the place.shows no codes..anybody have any thoughts?

Only with the A/C on? Does it run OK the rest of the time? Does the A/C get cold?Does having the rear A/C on matter?

I would say your AIC valve is either dirty or just outright bad. There are many threads on here you can search for that deal with cleaning the valve.

A/C is cold,rear air works great...i will look into the AIC..thanks for your help

You should inspect the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) and the associated hose for cracks. Pull the valve and plug the hole with your finger with the engine running. If idle improves, you have a bad PCV.
